Yupe, you’ve read that right.
We know that Bill Gates has banned Apple products from his home.
I don’t blame him because Apple has always been at the forefront of design and technology leaving Billy Boy’s offerings look very amateurish and clunky.
There is news today that Microsoft now uses Linux to power their Azure cloud services, well, OK, more correctly, their Azure Cloud Switch.
WTF??!!!
Just a minute.
We know that Windows 10 is not gonna cut the mustard when one is looking for a high performance product but doesn’t Microsoft have their own you-beaut server systems?
What happened to their much vaunted Windows Server?
Well, apparently, their servers are not good enough to handle the demands of running cloud services.
Principal architect for Azure Networking, Kamala Subramaniam, seems to grudgingly admit that Linux is the only option for Microsoft’s ACS.
She begins her announcement by praising the ACS in glowing terms and then buried somewhere deep in long paragraphs of words, she mentions the dreaded word, “Linux”.
In fact, she only mentions the word, “Linux”, twice in her statement announcing ACS.
I can just imagine her wincing as she types in each character of the word, “L – i – n – u – x” 🙂
There is no hint of which flavour of Linux is being used but it is known that Suse Linux has previously worked very closely with Microsoft.
Satya Nadella, the new Microsoft CEO, seems to have thrown in the towel when REAL computing power is needed – don’t use Microsoft, get Linux 🙂
Go, Tux!!!

No Microsoft in windows, how the computer world looks like? Reformat the computer?delete Microsoft products? Learning from beginning?
The title was a bit sensational, I confess 🙂
Microsoft is just not using Windows for their Azure Cloud Switch.
But deleting Microsoft products from your computer and learning from the beginning again is not a bad idea. One could learn better ways of doing things 🙂
