I had dinner last night at, what I consider to be, a most unusual restaurant, Tropicana Singapore Laksa, in Bexley.
What makes this place unusual is that every dish is cooked using sauces which Tropicana bottles and on-sells to the public.
I guess it is one way to prove that their sauces stand up to the all-important taste test in that one can tell exactly how a particular dish should taste like when cooked at home using the tropicana product.
Their sauces are all made in Australia and also sold in Chinese grocery shops.
I noticed what seemed to be a new addition to their range – chilli sauce.
I was told that they have been in business for over twenty years and sure enough a quick Google showed that they used to be in Kingsford.
So, what did I think of their food?
Well, I had a combination char mee which was not bad at all, although it was slightly wetter than I expected.
I was hungry and did not think of taking a pic before I started 🙂 I just have to discipline myself to do the picture-thang but my excuse is that I am new to doing food reviews.
I also need to get a hang of this Google Maps marker so that I can insert map locations into my posts but next time.
Google Maps don’t make it easy for me cos it seems rather tricky.
I might even write an article on it one day 🙂
Use the exact sauce to cook for sauce promotion is very good idea.
Yupe, I thought it was a quite clever move for Tropicana’s marketing.
They can use up sauces in their cooking thereby rotating their stock and they can offer potential wholesale customers a place to taste-test the sauces.
